BikeStow and Halesowen A & CC launch BikeStow Three-Day

by WMRR Admin

BikeStow and Halesowen A & CC are proud to announce the launch of the BikeStow Three-Day, a new stage race for the West Midlands, taking place from June 24-26 2022 at three venues across the region. Entries for the race, which will be open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th category racers, will opened on January 1 2022.

Stage one is a Friday evening circuit race lasting 75 minutes, on the 3.5 mile traffic free course at Cosford Aerodrome, with kind permission of the RAF. On the Saturday morning the action switches to Aston in Clun in rural Shropshire with a short team time trial (3.5 miles), followed by an afternoon road race stage over a 60 miles rolling course. Sunday morning will see a longer stage taking in five laps of the classic, hilly Astley course (70 miles)

The race will be open to teams of four riders, although individual entries from local riders will also be accepted. Stage and overall winners will receive BikeStow storage systems from the main sponsor, with the leaders’ jerseys to be supplied by local supplier ProVision.

“The intention is that this race will help to develop road racing within the region by providing a focus to the season,” said organiser William Fotheringham of Halesowen A & CC. “We have not had a stage race here since 2018, and they are few and far between across the UK scene at the moment. This race has been planned with a good variety of stages to suit all kinds of bike racer, and while it will present a true challenge at the sharp end, it should also be accessible enough to provide a rewarding weekend’s racing for up and coming riders.”

“As a family of road and mountain bikers, BikeStow are really excited to support HA&CC with this race and do our part to reinvigorate the local road race scene after the recent difficult seasons,” said Julie Laight of BikeStow.

BikeStow is a Stourbridge family-run business offering functional and attractive bike racks for your van, home, office and beyond. The BikeStow Original enables scratch-free transport of up to four bikes inside vans, whilst the BikeStow Up brings an elegant and freestanding approach to space-efficient vertical bike storage.

Halesowen Athletic and Cycling Club are one of the West Midlands’ leading cycling clubs, based at their own velodrome on the west side of Birmingham. The club’s Academy was founded in 2015, and provides a race team experience for young cyclists from 15-23.

“We would like to thank BikeStow for their support in this new venture,” said Halesowen chair Dave Viner. “As a club we promote over 25 days of racing each season, and this is a great addition to that programme, using as it does two courses that we have already organised road races on.”
